About This Tool
Free online metronome with 40–208 BPM, tap tempo and a first-click accent.
A metronome produces clicks at a chosen tempo. This tool checks its schedule every 25 ms and schedules clicks about 100 ms ahead against the Web Audio clock. It does not measure or compensate for speaker, Bluetooth or device output latency, and does not guarantee zero drift or millisecond listening accuracy.
Start practicing slowly at a tempo where you can play every note cleanly, then increase the speed gradually — the classic method for building fast, accurate technique on any instrument.
Precision Timing
Clicks are scheduled against the audio clock. Browser suspension, screen locking and device latency can affect playback. The metronome stops when the tab is hidden; restart when you return.
Accented Downbeats
The first beat of every measure plays a higher-pitched click, helping you feel the meter in 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, or 6/8.
Tap Tempo
Find any tempo by tapping the TAP button in rhythm — the metronome averages your taps and sets the BPM automatically.

Interval training and rhythm practice both rely on structured, repeated timing. High-intensity interval protocols alternate work and rest in fixed windows, while a metronome keeps tempo steady by producing beats at a defined BPM — a device formalized in 1815 and still standard in music education. Youth baseball programs including MLB's Pitch Smart publish age-specific pitch count limits, which coaches track per game and per week to protect young arms.
